While the weather threatened to rain, the conditions were dry as 22 competitors took their chances in qualifying for the Driftland masters.

A combination of Driftland regulars and keen rookies took to the beginners track first to warm up.

At half time competitors switched to the Nationals track and this saw some quality high speed drifting.

Of interest was Drift Cat's brand new 180SX which she brought out for a test, and drifted consistently all night. Cat finished the night as the top ranked competitor

Fernando Weihl, in his now familar Sileighty cut it up all night in typical style and displayed good angle and speed around the slow track. Fernando was a clear second.

Wayne "El Stupido" Elven attacked Driftland with his usual gusto and pulled some of the biggest angles seen all night for a clear third place.

This left Josh James in the Mazda 929 and Damian Blazevic in the R33 Skyline to battle it out for fourth. Despite Damian' s undeniable style the consistency of josh in the Mazda 929 won the day, and secured fourth place.

For those who missed out this time, there is always Round 2 on May 13.
